Lina Koutrakos is a singer, a songwriter, a speaker and a survivor. She has taken her life, up until now, and written lyrics about it, communicating - as many other have - through song. Lina has also been a sought after master teacher as she teaches other singers how to do more with their voices then just vocal pop calisthenics. She shows them how to speak their hearts and minds using their voices to tell their stories. Singing or speaking Lina Koutrakos has had a captive audience wherever her concerts have taken her. Koutrakos speaks primarily to women in "Face to Face”. A one to 2 hour talk where she shares her story with the hopes of promoting a stronger self-esteem and authenticity in her listeners.
Koutrakos is not a scholar. She is not an Olympiad or a psychologist. She has been called “A rock and roll preacher” and “A walking Master Class on living”. She is one woman with a story. No greater or smaller then any other woman perhaps, but Koutrakos is quickly being recognized for her ability to inspire naturally. She processes her passion and humanity, joins it with articulation, charisma, courage and authenticity and shares herself-successes and mistakes- candidly with other women. Saving the younger ones the time and trouble of the many bumps in the road she has had to overcome and has an uncanny way of encouraging women of other ages to carry on to their next and greater good. No where near perfection, Koutrakos’s point seems to be to find the most authentic you the fastest way you can, the most fearless way you can, enjoying every moment to the fullest while walking towards your future.
Specifically, Koutrakos has survived and is in recovery from addictions that have left her closer to death in her late 30s and early 40's then anyone might have suspected. Herself included. She has also maintained a weight loss of over 100 pounds for 7 years now. She is a working, rave-reviewed and awarded singer who has pushed past the odds and survived the continuous and constant uphill climb and rejection from a business, who for a host of reasons, hasn't acknowledged the enormity of her talents. She has experienced sexual, physical and much emotional abuse. Early experiences with death and illness, heartache and many mistakes along the way have given Lina the “right” to talk to women as she can relate to almost every one of them.
What Lina Koutrakos does that no other speaker can is go face to face with women of all ages- as one of them. She tells her story, she asks them theirs and they talk-together.
We have been very successful in this new package coupling these talks with an open-to-all concert following it. (Immediately or later that evening.) Koutrakos and her band are an amazing show, packed with an honest energy.
